Thanks for posting this, I know many of us are having a hard time finding new jobs. Ignore the trolls, borders employees aren't jerks, just the people who couldn't get their way using the coupon while the store was being liquidated. So they are on here saying all kinds of crap to make borders employees look bad. I worked with the employees and can tell you some of us were damn good knowledgable book readers and did everything we could to help this company even when these past few CEO's ruined such a great company that it could have been.

Borders will always be remembered as a company that had a tremendous rise and fall. And even if these few piss poor ceo's made it fall, the employees always tried to push their wait around, even without raises to make this company successful. Otherwise we would of not stuck around till the bitter end.

Borders's rise wasn't that meteoric in the grand scheme of things, it was just a blip on the radar, or rather, a fart in the wind. And no one is going to remember its rise because its rise happened 40 years ago and almost no sane person has stuck around for that long with this company of cocksuckers, and the insane ones are statistically likely to burn out and commit suicide before long anyway. If remembered at all, it will be in a negative light, seeing as the bad outweighed the good by a million to one.

Oh stop the negative BS. Borders had a moment of being grand and fell sharlpy. Customers including myself loved shopping at borders because we loved books. Get over your issues and just accept the fact that your losing your job like everyone else.

I love reactionary public avengers and their asinine assumptions. I actually work as a senior acquisitions editor for R.H. publishing (one of the biggest in the nation) and my job is currently in no danger, my friend.

As for Borders having been grand, there is nothing in its history that leads me to believe it was a friendly, customer-centered business. Ever since Tom and Louis Borders gave up control, it's been run by nothing more than a bevy of Wall Street bloodsuckers. Their self-serving pyramidal business models have led to the company being millions of dollars in debt (over 30 million to us alone) and has also led to very little measurable profit...yet despite that, those sleazy executives have been able to escape unscathed with millions in bonuses over the years. Their hiring practices, especially for store management, have been shady and full of nepotism, their DM and GM turnover rates were huge, their customer service training modules were weak at best, their loyalty program sucked, their relationship with buyers and distributors was fraught with tension, they failed at restocking properly to meet demand, they treated authors (including ones we at R.H. represent) like shit, and let's face it, their stores were like glorified KMarts (Oh yeah, Borders was bought by KMart!) HAHAHA!

So a few customers got books they wanted there...big deal! That's meaningless. They could do that at Barnes and Noble, oh, and also get superior customer service and book selection...oh, and a legitimate digital platform.

Do your research, fool, before saying even more stupid things.

Who cares about what you do now, and Borders customer service was better Barnes N Nobles. Hell we had tons of customers complain about BNN. Your just a bitter customer that came in wanting something and couldn't get your way. Hopefully your ego will squashed when your job is destroyed right before your eyes you moron.

ummm...1, I've never bought anything from Borders. 2, you're obviously just a bitter hourly employee who's resenting having to stand in the unemployment lines for your measly hand out. And 3, if you read Publishers Weekly yesterday, you'd have read that profits are soaring at R.H. and job security has never been stronger, so suck on that. Get a life.

You idiots were the worst of all the sales reps to deal with. There have been so many robotic bad reps over the years it was sad. Speaking of sucking... is that how you got your position? If so it would follow the pattern at Random. You don't need talent but you must like the taste of salt.

Your time will come soon enough. The market of physical books will continue to shrink and that part of the R.H. business will shrink along with it.

You sound like a Borders employee before the big downfall. Now R.H. will not fold but folks will lose jobs in certain areas. So before you get all full of yourself look a little farther down the road. Oh wait you work at Random House and only know what you are told.

Pub Weekly...are you kidding? Random and PW have been having an affair for years. PW is the National Inquirer of the publishing Industry. Suck long enough and they will give you what you want. 10% real numbers and 90% moaning your name.

I agree sounds like another disgruntled customer looking to push Borders under the rug. Little do these people know is that Borders is no more since July 21st. So I am not sure why they are still negative. Borders is no more, yet they still harbor like vultures in iworkatborders forum for what? Haven't you guys accomplished getting Borders out of business, now why go after the employees thats just stupid...Your going to track us down to at our new job and spread more of your hate Lol...
