It will be a year that the announcement that Borders will close down-in fact this week. So what have you guys been up to? What has your store been turned into? Do you still see your former coworkers? Lastly, does anyone come on this site anymore. It's sad. I miss you Borders.

Wine bar to open in vacated Borders site in Dallas’ West Village

The former Borders store on McKinney Avenue is being replaced by a wine bar restaurant.

An empty Uptown storefront is replacing books and magazines with fried chicken and champagne.

The vacant Borders Books store in Dallas’ West Village has been leased to a Houston restaurant chain.

Max’s Wine Dive has rented the 4,200 square feet in the building at McKinney and Lemmon avenues, and construction is already under way.

With locations in Houston, Austin and San Antonio, the Uptown lease is Max’s Wine Dive’s first foray into the North Texas market.

“We’re excited to finally have them in the neighborhood,” Aaron Stephenson, partner with Retail Street Advisors who brokered the deal, said Thursday.

The restaurant took the corner spot and about half of the old Borders’ ground-floor space.

“We still have the whole upstairs left” to lease, said Cityplace Co. president Neal Sleeper.

Max’s serves “gourmet comfort food” and wine, and is known for its weekend brunch specials and late-night hours.

The former Borders store is one of almost a dozen area locations that the bankrupt book retailer vacated last year.

I'm interested to hear from my former co-workers, if you've moved on to a new job, what are you doing? I obviously wont ask if its better than Borders, but how much better than Borders is it?

In my case, I'm working in Wireless Sales for one of the Big 2 companies. Compared to Borders, it's AWESOME!!. The money is almost triple, the people aren't disgruntled from being beaten down by sorry managers, and the company actually trusts you and gives you responsibility! Imagine that! Training, 401K match, tuition reimbursement, it's like working for a real company!

Anyway, where are YOU now?

Judge approves B&N purchase of Borders customer list; Borders gift cards expire shortly

It's official: Borders to Sell Intellectual Property to Barnes & Noble

with some conditions:

All former Borders’ customers will be told by e-mail that they can choose not to have personally identifiable information transferred with the sale, Borders’ lawyer Andrew Glenn, said in court today. Otherwise, all data, regardless of when it was collected or whether customers previously opted not to share it, will be transferred to Barnes & Noble, with the exception of video titles.

An ad will also be placed in USA Today to publicize the opt-out program, Andrew Glenn said. Barnes & Noble agreed to purge any information for which it has no commercial use.

USA Today is a puzzling choice for a place to put the ad, since Borders customers are generally intelligent people who read well above the second-grade level.

Also, it looks like Borders.com is preparing to shut down. It currently has a notice that Borders gift cards are valid through 10:30 pm Eastern Time on Tuesday, September 27. The $99 sale on Kobo Touch eReaders (lilac color only) also ends on September 27.

Sooooooo in the big pre "are we or aren't we going under" confusion that went on a few months back (oh how I laughed at those who had any doubt or held out hope) I screwed up royally by not putting my last offically paycheck that was actually FROM Borders in the bank (long story short I had a relative that died and in the ensuing chaos it got lost in the shuffle - partner takes care of a lot of things for me so I was ok) so now I have an uncut check on my hands.

So how about it folks? Am I completely screwed? I did put in those hours so it would be nice to actually get my pay for them. Is there still a number I can call or is my ass gone?

Reuters: Borders' IP sale to Barnes & Noble on hold

(Reuters) - Borders Group Inc's plan to sell customer information to former rival Barnes & Noble Inc hit a snag on Thursday when a judge raised questions about the company's privacy policy.

Bankruptcy Judge Martin Glenn said at a hearing he needed more time to decide whether the policy covers longer-standing customers and whether certain customers must give their consent before the sale can close.

While Borders' current privacy policy, implemented in May 2008, makes clear customer information can be sold, questions remain as to whether customers who joined Borders' database before then are subject to the policy and whether they must consent to a sale.

A third-party ombudsman issued a report concluding that certain customers must be given the choice to opt out of the sale.

Now that it is over, I'm curious what the various positions made on average. Anyone know baseline salaries for Sales Managers, General Managers, and District Managers? Were they different based on cost of living?

Anyone want to share where they may or may not have hid their "stash", I would be shocked if a lot of employees didnt "find" some product for themselves at the very end when it went down to a dollar.

Mine, if i would have done it, would have been in a very simple spot really, im assuming every store had the same bargain fixtures? If you managed to do it, you could retract the bottom parts of them that could be used as extra shelves. I could have just put them and took them out in an opening or closing shift.

Did anyone have or many not have any clever spots?

According to a report on Ann Arbor.com Borders has filed with the bankruptcy court a motion seeking court approval to pay Mike Edwards and his top three cronies $125,000 each bonus.

2. When will everyone except keyholders get the short end of the stick on hours?
